Spring Bloom
_

The Androscoggin Apple Co.

.. is a family owned, local-market, organic farm in Greene, Maine.

apple harvest Each spring we welcome a new batch of lambs to graze on our pastures and every fall we harvest hundreds of bushels of apples from our orchard.

As farmers we grow foods that reflect our climate and the unique character of our soils. As consumers we are dedicated to participating in a local foods movement that celebrates regional differences.

Maine's stony ground and cool weather are known for producing explosively crisp sweet/tart apples like Macintosh, Cortland, and Northern Spy. Most of our apples are juiced on our antique rack and cloth press. Androscoggin Apple Co. cider is carefully crafted to reflect the best qualities of our apples. For fresh cider we use only tree picked fruit and press at the peak of flavor. Crisp, clear, refreshing apple cider is our style and we are proud of its spry character.

Good drops don't go to waste they are gathered up, pressed and fermented to make vinegar. Androscoggin Apple Co. vinegar is made by the traditional "Orleans Process". The "wild" slow fermentation, followed by oak barrel aging creates superior quality organic cider vinegar.

After the harvest the lambs are brought into the orchard to finish on a fine forage of orchard grasses and apples.

It is a privilege to grow food that will nourish bodies and souls. We are inspired to create sustainable ways of farming that improve our land and our world.
